Adventure/Travel

A is for Adventure

ADVENTURE is my glittering, guiding word for sweet 2016.

ADVENTURE.

I love it. Really, really love it. I love that I didn’t have to ponder it. I love that she just leapt right out and excitedly declared: Adventure Awaits. It feels right.

Like an overzealous puppy she literally tugs at my sleeves, c’mon c’mon!

Imagine this! Oh, and this! And we should read that! Let’s go here! And let’s make one of these!

Everything is energy, and the energy of adventure is sweet, cheeky and fun. More of that please!

Here’s a little round up of the things I’m craving MORE of.

More flow. More fun. More travel. More laughing. More silliness. More cheekiness. More gardening. More road trips. More diving into culture. More exploring. More newness. More sun soaking. More beach frolicking. More self-led learning + educating. More environmental focus. More fiction. More old school tunes. More classic movies. More handwritten letters. More happy.

And another goodie; more sharing the work of others following their own bliss.

ROADTRIPS

We live in one of the most beautiful little pockets on Earth. Just minutes from a world-class surf break, nestled cosily on a beautiful stretch of coastal headland a few hundred metres walk to the water. The best part? There’s so much to explore and marvel at so road trips are a no-brainer.

This beauty on our doorstep. Great Ocean Road.

This beauty on our doorstep. The Great Ocean Road.

Thankfully Bohdi is a happy little camper, an easy traveller and is IN LOVE with the outdoors. Good local coffee, good tunes and no agenda, just the open road and a spontaneous sparkle.

TRAVEL

travel

I am hungry, HUNGRY I tell you, for places I’ve never seen. I get tummy flutters thinking about all the amazing jewels to unearth across the globe.

Also, I’ve been stalking this really, really, ridiculously inspiring site forever. It’s the perfect virtual indulgence for my NYC obsession. All the prettiest, most beautifully curated homes in NYC, LA, London and Paris for you to stay in while you make the city your own.

For now, a tropical holiday is calling with a semi surf-trip weaved in to keep the men-folk happy.

CAMPING

More mountains please. I never thought I was a camping in the woods kinda girl, but something about no phone reception, a slew of good books, blue skies and nature as far as the eye can see has my heart yearning for an alpine getaway. We’ve just bought a new tent and are itching to get out there…so much so we pitched it in the backyard to train the dog to get in.

We had to lure him with carrots. Worked like a charm.

Reigniting a PASSION PROJECT

I started it in 2010 from friends and colleagues requesting desserts and decorated cakes for parties and special events. From there she took off and I was quoting brides-to-be and suppling gourmet goodies to a hip new ocean side coffee roaster.

BUT, with a full-time job (running a gym funnily enough) it was tricky to juggle and so I popped it on the shelf.

A flurry of ideas have been dancing their way into my imagination and finally, FINALLY, I’ve landed on a way to merge my background and love of nutrition, plant-based foods, desserts, pretty things AND lifestyle blogging.

Much research awaits and my library card is getting a workout.

LANGUAGE

My heritage is Italian, and much to the dismay of my very Italian grandparents I am fluent in Japanese after studying it for 6 years. Ha! I’ve been using the Duolingo app (for Apple + Android) and Mango Languages online app via my local library.

I’m dusting off my Japanese, leaning proper Italian (there are so many dialects) and adding a few new Spanish and French words to my list for fun. Brain training at it’s finest.

Rocambolesco kinda sounds like a pasta sauce 😉

Indulging in the classics

While Trent was away riding at Falls Creek, I watched and fell head over heels for Esio Trot; the movie based on the book by Roahl Dahl. Dustin Hoffman plays the lovable Mr.Hoppy who is secretly in love with his neighbour Mrs.Silver who lavishes all her affection on her pet tortoise, Alfie. A beautiful, whimsical and romantic must-see.

Also I gave the original 1960’s Ocean’s Eleven a whirl but I couldn’t stop thinking George Clooney plays a better Danny Ocean than Frank Sinatra. What do you think?

Getting OUTSIDE MORE

Running! Oh how I miss thee. I’ve been doing Kayla’s BBG and am super happy with the results. I’m adding a little yoga + spin here and there but I’m really craving dirty, muddy, sweaty outdoor workouts. Thinking big headland runs in the sun. I’m also keen to give Barre classes a go.

Alas, I need new kicks before I can pound the pavement. I’ve got my eye on the Nike Vomero 9 and the Nike Air Max 90.

What about you, do you have a word or a guiding theme for 2016?

I’d be stoked for you to share it.

If not, may I suggest this one by the cheeky Ash Ambirge for a giggle? Ha ha.

Big love.

I can’t believe you are learning how to speak a few different languages at once, that’s quite admirable. And it will sure help with all your traveling. I love that you live in balance with both gym routines + cake making. Sounds perfect. Cheers!
